Bratislava
We visited Bratislava in 2008 and 2012. The most noticeable structure is Bratislava Castle which overlooks the Danube. Between 2008 and 2012 restoration work was started and completed giving it a white color. Most of the historical buildings are concentrated in the Old Town. Michael's Gate is the only gate that survives from the medieval fortifications and the 13th century Franciscan Church which is along the pleasant walk leads to the old town square with the Bratislava's Town Hall (which is actually 3 building) and its beautiful tile roofs and spire. There are bronze statues that are fun to look at in old town and have interesting stories attached. I would recommend stopping by Kaffee Mayer on the old town square for coffee and cake. Then continue your wandering past the Opera House and down the promenade to the Gothic St. Martin's Cathedral. This cathedral was built in the 13th century and witnessed the coronation of kings. It has the plague memorial between the cathedral and the 20th-century New Bridge which stretches across the Danube and features a UFO on a tower which is actually a restaurant.
