Isle of Skye
The bridge to Skye really made getting to this island much easier. The scenery is beautiful with great drives along the coastlines. We stayed in Sleat which was on the southern coast in a very quiet and beautiful coastal area. We visited the town of Portree which is very scenic and great to walk around in with little shops selling woolens and other souvenirs. Dunvegan Castle is worth a visit. It is in excellent shape and is the home of the McLeod clan who still lives in the castle. The tour is quite interesting with portraits of the different clan chiefs and descriptions of family history and historical events that date back hundreds of years. Their gardens are very well kept with different formal gardens settings, including walled, water, and flower gardens. Also Talisker Distillery is on Skye, their tour is pretty average.
