Cascais
We visited Cascais in 2007 and 2011. Cascais is a fishing village became a resort for Portugal's royal family in the late 19th century and early 20th century. It is now a stop for tourists, but still continues its fishing heritage with a daily fish auction. The beaches are excellent and the old town center with its scenic streets and tile murals are a fine stroll. The citadel is still a military base, so it is not open to visit, but is a nice backdrop for photos. We had lunch at "Mar Do Guincho" next to the Guincho Beach. The fish was baked covered in sea salt and was excellent.
