Amsterdam
We visited the Amsterdam in 2006 and again in 2009. Amsterdam is the largest city and the capital of the Netherlands. Its main attractions include its historic canals (a canal boat ride is a must), the Rijksmuseum which houses classical Dutch art including Rembrandt and his pupils work, Stedelijk Museum of modern art, Anne Frank House, Westerkerk church where the crown topping the spire is the Imperial Crown of Austria, Amsterdam Waag which is the only remnant of the city walls, the Royal Palace, and of course its red-light district. As you cruse the canals you will notice that the houses have hooks at the top of the roof. These are used to haul supplies and furniture up to the upper floors and in through the front windows, a very ingenious solution to narrow stairs. The bicycle is the main mode of transportation there are over 500,000 and you will see them parked almost everywhere.
