Valletta
We visited Valletta in 2004. Valletta is the capital of Malta and is a walled city that primarily dates from 1565 when it was built right after the Siege of Malta by the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, also known as Knights Hospitaller. The port and city has a uniform beige color from the stone it was built with. The fortified architecture of the port and city shows it was clearly built to defend from invading fleets. We spent most of our time touring the ancient temples of Malta, so we did not spend much time in the city except to visit the Museum of Archaeology with its artifacts from the various Maltese temples such as the “Sleeping Lady” or "Venus of Hagar Qim" statues.
