Sardinia
We visited Sardinia in 2004. Sardinia is an island west of Italy and is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. We stayed near the Marina district in Cagliari which has a large number of pedestrian walkways with cafes and shops, the town hall, and several churches. Although on our trip to Nora we stopped at a 13th Century Villa and had a very nice lunch.
Nora is now an archaeological park but was founded by the Phoenicians in the eighth century BCE and was conquered by Roman in 238 BCE. It is an open-air museum and while over the ages most of the building stones have been removed, the foundations and floor mosaics remain. The ruins of the Roman theater is still used for concerts.
