Delos
The Island of Delos is a short boat ride from Mykonos. It is famous for being the birthplace of the twin gods Apollo and Artemis and developed into a major cult center and pilgrim site for ancient Greeks beginning around 800 BCE. The island is now home to ruins of a number of Greek temples, homes, and statues to various gods. Some high points are the Terrace of Lions, the floor mosaics of the “House of Dionysus” and “House of the Lake”, the Sacred Way, and the “House of Cleopatra”.
