Windsor
We visited Windsor in 1998. Windsor is a town in the county of Berkshire. It is widely known as the site of Windsor Castle, one of the official residences of the British Royal Family. This was the purpose of our visit. We took a boat up the Thames River from London and arrived in Windsor and took a short walk to the castle. Windsor Castle was built after the Norman invasion by William the Conqueror in the 11th century and has been updated and improved upon ever sense and is considered the longest-occupied palace in Europe. The design is broken up into different wards (lower, middle and upper) for defensive reasons and the upper ward is where the state apartments are.
