Hallstatt
Hallstatt is a World Heritage Site for Cultural Heritage and has one of the oldest salt mines in the world (800 BCE). The small town and the lake it faces are very picturesque. You can see the whole town in about 15 minutes not including the Salt Mine tour. The Salt Mine tour is well worth seeing and takes you deep underground and along narrow passages and larger caverns. Since there is so little space in the cemetery, every ten years bones are removed into an Ossuary to make room for new burials. The Ossuary has on display a collection of elaborately decorated skulls with owners' names, professions, death dates inscribed on them.
