Shanghai
We visited Shanghai in 2001. The Pudong portion of Shanghai is very modern, however parts of the old Shanghai still exist like the Bund and the foreign concessions areas. The Bund is located along the Huangpu River and contains buildings with architecture ranging from neoclassical to art deco. The French Concession is the most well-preserved of the remaining foreign concessions and worth a visit. While we were in Shanghai we visited the Children’s Palace Music School for a tour and music recital from its students. They were really good. We also visited the Jade Buddha Temple which was founded in 1882 and is known for its solid Jade Reclining Buddha as well as the larger (3 ton) stone Sitting Buddha.
