Train Ride Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu & back

The train to Machu Picchu leaves from the city of Ollantaytambo. Our guide moved our seats to the river side, which is recommended as having the best views (and it does). The scenery along the train ride was great to watch, with occasional Inca ruins and low highlands mountains changing to cloud forests as we got closer to Machu Picchu. We arrived in Aguas Calientes, the town which sits at the base of the mountain Machu Picchu sits on top of. Aguas Calientes is a very touristy town with hotels, restaurants and markets selling souvenirs to the tourists.
