Nazca Lines
The Nazca Lines are a series of ancient geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert in southern Peru. The high, arid plateau stretches more than 80 kilometers (50 mi) between the towns of Nazca and Palpa about 400 km south of Lima. The geoglyphs were created by the Nazca culture between 400 and 650 AD. The lines are shallow designs made in the ground by removing the reddish pebbles and uncovering the whitish/grayish ground beneath.
When you take a flight over the Nazca lines expect it to be about 1 hour & 40 minutes (30 there, 40 at the lines, and 30 back) in a small aircraft. We saw the Monkey, Whale, Astronaut, Condor, Dog, Humming Bird, Spider, Tree, Hands, and some of the Paraces geoglyphs called Heron Bird, and Parrot. We you looked at the landscape you often saw other lines across the desert in patterns, which pass unnoted by the pilots.
