Yangzi River : These are photos of our trip down the Yangze River in 2001 before the 3 gorges dam was completed. Much of the area we saw is now under 175 meters of water. Cities either built walls to keep out the rising water or new cities were built on higher ground and the populations completely moved to thier new accomidations. You will also note the deep brown color of the river, this is due to the silt that continually washs down from the mountains to the east.
